31st July:
Hatnur dam witnesses sharp water level rise:
District's second largest water supplies resource Hatnur dam has seen
sharp rise in water levels following good raining in MadhyaPradesh
zone. Dam now has 43.84% water levels. Authorities have opened up
36 of 41 gates on Tuesday midnight to control increasing water pressure.
This is resulting outflow of around 1,936 cusecs of water from dam
into Tapi River. It has now closed 32 gates one by one as raining
has stopped in the region.
Girana dam still has 3.86% storage as compared to last year's 57.07%
by this time. Waghur has 10.33% storage, Suki has 54.73%, Ambhora
has 49.34% and Bhokarbari has 8.26% usable water storage.
Nature study center at Patnadevi:
Social forestry department has setup Bhaskaracharya Nature study center
in Patnadevi to encourage bio-variety and nature studies in the region.
Recent raining evoked waterfall and lake is also amongst key attraction
of rich lush green Patnadevi forestry. Center has religious, medicinal
species and plantations, animals and birds, lake and related information
with pictorial and story format.
Mumbai High Court Aurangabad bench orders JDCC Bank Election:
Aurangabad bench of Mumbai High court has ordered conducting JDCC
Bank election as planned by district administration. It has ordered
not to alter this election plan without prior permission. Administration
is conducting JDCC Bank election on 22nd November 2008. State government
earlier appointed administrator on bank by dismissing existing board
of directors on 10th April 2003 for 5 years period.
Election process begins with announcement of electoral roll on 20th
August, final roll on 15th September, formal election announcement
on 16th October, 22nd October as last date of filling nominations,
23rd October as scrutiny date, 09th November as last day of withdrawal,
voting on 22nd November and counting on 24th November 2008.
District Collectorate orders water shortage action plan for upcoming
season:
This year's lowered raining is likely to cause water woes to region
in upcoming seasons. Administration has ordered respective departments
to come up with detailed action plan seeing last 3-4 years scenario.
St. Joseph School wins Subrato Mukhrjee football competition:
St. Joseph High School Jalgaon has won district sports authority and
Corporation conducted district level football competition. It has
defeated Millat High School team by 3-0 in finals. Competition had
participation of many schools from region. Team has now qualified
for divisional level Subrato Mukhrjee competition and Sports Authority
of India divisional competition.
30th July:
Corporation general body special meeting review:
Jalgaon city municipal Corporation's current body's last special meeting
called yesterday to discuss Octroi extension went in strong exchanges
of words amidst ruling and opposition. Administration proposed extension
of Octroi tender by 2 months. Body finally approved extension by 2
months with no rates hike to that of 10% natural growth demanded.
Meanwhile administration has continued its electoral roll objections
hearing. Many a citizens have reported irregularities in roll and
no listing of their names in many a areas.
Farmer debt waiver - slower processing leads to mere 1% new loans
distribution:
Central governments annual crop loan policy extended until 31st July
has evoked mere 1% response this year. Jalgaon district's 121.66 Crores
farmer debt waiver under central scheme is still in processing and
as a result just 6.15 Crores loan have been distributed by now. District's
68,497 farmers turned eligible for this waiver scheme. JDCC bank has
reported non-submission of clear documents as major reason in delaying
of loans to almost 20,000 farmers in this Kharip season.
D.R.D.A. gets 47 Lakhs fund:
Jalgaon district rural development authority (D.R.D.A.) has received
47 Lakhs funds for dry land agriculture through State rural development
and water conservation department with 75% contribution from Center
and this rest 25% from State.
29th July:
Jamner woes - Need of permanent water resource:
Jamner taluka has witnessed Jalgaon-alike painful acute water shortage
in this season. The intense 2 decades before water short experience
has led to rage in citizens with demands of well planned and managed
permanent water supplies resource. The mere 60,000 population Jamner
city has supplies through Hivri, Hiverkhede, Gondkhel, Mahukheda and
Lahasar dam. All these dam area had very low raining resulting in
lower stock of water. Council later has received approval of connecting
special water supplies through back water of Waghur dam at 1.50 Crore
estimated cost. The political changeover and lesser attention to basic
necessity demand have caused this Jalgaon typed watermania.
Monsoon continues to shower - Tapi river flooding:
Entire Jalgaon district continue to witness good monsoon rainfall
on fourth consecutive day. Chalisgaon, Bhusawal, Yaval and Raver regions
have witnessed pouring. Heavy raining in MadhyaPradesh has led to
opening up 4 more gates of Hatnur dam. This has led to flooding in
Tapi River. Many a dam have significant rise in water levels.
District farmers are witnessing shortage of DAP, potash and many other
fertilizers and pesticides. This shortage is mainly due to suddenly
raised demands following good raining.
Electricity distribution Company eases load shedding following
lowering demand:
State electricity distribution Company has eased and reduced ongoing
load shedding and zero loads in whole district. The earlier called
9 hours load shedding has now been reduced to mere 3/ 4 hours and
whole region has smoother electricity supplies throughout raining.
Corporation special general meeting today for Octroi extension:
Jalgaon city Municipal Corporation is conducted State Election commission
permitted special meeting today to extend Octroi tax collection until
01st November. State announced Cess tax collection would start from
01st November and existing Octroi and escort fees collection tender
is ending on 31st July.
28th July:
Raining pleases district - Guli, Ratnavati flooding:
District witnessed rain pouring throughout day yesterday. Continued
raining in last 3 days has speeded up pending farming works. Meteorological
department has reported total raining of 556.3mm till now with Bhadgaon
on top with 271mm and Bhusawal on bottom with 73mm. Erandol went at
top while Yaval went at bottom in terms of maximum raining on Saturday.

received good inflow of water following raining in Ajanta zone and
Hatnur dam's four gates have been opened to maintain water pressure.
Police urges caution note on Bangalore, Ahmedabad bomb explosions:
Jalgaon district Police has urged citizens to be on caution note following
recent Bangalore and Ahmedabad explosions. District Police yesterday
received hoax bomb call for 2534 Pushpak express at Bhusawal station.
It conducted a thorough check of whole train and found an unidentified
bag. Bag had no such explosives and train was later allowed to go.
District police has raised high alerts throughout and is patrolling
throughout all sensitive zones.
Jalgaon Janta bank announces 5% dividend, 1.62 Crores profit:
Jalgaon Janta Co-operative bank conducted its 30th annual general
meeting yesterday. It has announced net profit of 1.62 Crores with
5.75% NPA. Bank has announced 5% dividend for its share holders. It
has announced conversion of three extension counters to branches,
opening up of two new extension counters, providing core banking,
e-banking, stamp franking machine, CDSL depository service, electricity,
telephone bills acceptance services in this financial year.
Pratik Patil scores 3.5 points in Singapore competition:
Jalgaon chess hero Pratik Patil has scored 3.5 points after 5 rounds.
He has won 3 rounds, equalized one and lost one in ongoing international
school-level FIDE rated chess competition at Singapore. He is currently
at fifth rank and 4 rounds are still pending.
Pune wins State roll ball skating competition in Jalgaon:
Pune team has won ongoing state roll ball skating competition conducted
in jalgaon. Jalgaon girls won runner up award in competition. Ahmednagar
won boys and mixed runner up while Nagpur won boys, girls and mixed
runner up award. Competition has now elected State team to participate
in national competition at Bhilwara from 07th August.
Falguni Zambre and Sanket Bhole win table tennis competition:
Falguni Zambre and Sanket Bhole have won both category district table
tennis association conducted third district rated table tennis competition.
Mohit Gadgil, Roshni Ahirrao and Yugandhara Bhole won respective category
competition.
27th July:
Monsoon raining pleases whole region:
Jalgaon district witnessed bestowing season's best raining yesterday.
This not only saved standing cultivated Kharip crop but has eased
water woes of whole region. It would now lead to completing pending
cultivation delayed on monsoon arrival. Jalgaon city had good raining
beginning in night and continued for hour's whole other taluka like
Amalner, Parola, Chopda, Bhusawal, Raver and Chalisgaon also witnessed
good rainfall throughout day. Hatnur dam water levels are increasing
following good raining in Madhya Pradesh and rest of Maharashtra and
has 211.140 meter water level. Authorities are planning to open 3
gates to control water pressure by midnight.
District council (ZP) gears up for ISO certification:
Jalgaon district council (ZP) administration has initiated full pace
measures for getting ISO certifications. It conducted a review meeting
yesterday to analyse preparations done and pending activities. It
aims at getting this done during 01st January until 31st August 2008.
District Planning and development Office has earlier received this
certification. Preparatory measures include dividing roles for departmental
heads, positive attitude in work, inspirational attitude, co-operation
with each other, cleaning and coloring of whole building, new furniture,
computerization of various offices, job sheets/ roles definitions
for every post etc.
ZP's attempts in getting this certification are admirable only if
it succeeds in persisting this culture in employees work culture and
ability to reflect this in doing ground level work with best of professional
practices.
State roll ball skating competition:
Jalgaon, Pune, Nagpur, Nashik have won various category matches to
move ahead in State roll ball junior championship competition in Jalgaon.
Host Jalgaon team defeated Akola by 2-0 in Under-17 category in boys
and girls defeated by 3-0 from Pune. Jalgaon girls win by 4-0 over
Pune. Pune won by 11-0 versus Akola, Thane won by 4-0 on Jalna, Jalgaon
won by 2-0 with Akola, Nashik won over Nanded by 1-0 and Nagpur won
by 3-0 on Parbhani.
26th July:
Electricity woes ease with new load shedding pattern:
State owned electricity distribution Company has changed load shedding
and zero load plans for Jalgaon. Accordingly Jalgaon city would now
have 9 hours load shedding to that of 8 hours earlier in two cycles.
New load shedding pairs are 6 - 10.30 and 13 to 17.30, 10.30 to 15
and 17.30 to 22. There would be no zero loads and cuts during midnights.
Rural areas would now have 14 hours of power cuts to that of 13 hours
earlier. Industrial area would get 40 hours weekly staggering day
beginning from today. Industrial power staggering cycle is 6AM of
Saturday to Sunday, 10PM. Unplanned electricity cuts and contaminated
drinking water is leading to large number of viral fever and typhoid
like cases.
Industrial staggering day of 40 hours is likely to impact 20,000 workers
on daily wages. Industrial area residents are in panic on this newly
announced 40 hours straight cut.
Raining marks presence for second consecutive day:
Whole Jalgaon district is witnessing showery medium raining throughout
day since last two days. Pachora, Amalner, Bhusawal, Yaval, Chopda
and Parola taluka have reported raining yesterday. Continued showering
has decreased humidity and eased climate. Ratnavati River having good
raining in backward areas witnessed its season's first flooding.
Jalgaon airport development - Officers discuss acquisition with
farmers:
Maharashtra Airport development Company Vice Chairman is arriving
in Jalgaon to conduct a review meeting with district farmers on their
issues and concerns in acquisition. District administration has begun
hearing of acquired 245 acres land owning farmers and would continue
to hear until 9th August. Administration has also assured of acquiring
balance lands in case existing plan cuts a farm land in two and rest
goes unutilized as requested by farmers.
ZP standing committee approves draught resolution, gets 10 crores
for water supplies reforms:
Jalgaon district council standing committee has approved and resolved
district in draught resolution yesterday. It has received 10.57 Crores
grant for village panchayat water supplies reforms from State. ZP
water management council met yesterday and aimed at easing water shortages
and good water taxes collection. Real work reflection would appear
on ground levels reform. It has also approved changing ZP schools
time to 9AM to 5PM.
State roll ball skating competition begins today in Jalgaon:
District roll ball association and in approval with State association
is conducting third state level junior roll ball skating competition
at district stadium. State's 15 teams are participating in this competition.
District boys and girls team are also participating in this event.
25th July:
Jamner water woes intensifies further - Rs. 1.59 Crores special emergency
supplies proposal:
Jalgaon district administration has sent a proposal to divisional
authorities for emergency water supplies proposal for Jamner estimated
at 1.59 Crores. Taluka's 120 out of 158 villages have acute drinking
water shortages. This proposal aims at laying 12kms special water
supply lines from Waghur dam back water.
Showery raining throughout district:
Entire Jalgaon district witnessed medium showery raining yesterday
afternoon. Showering has raised farmers' hopes of good raining ahead.
Bhadgaon, Chalisgaon, Pachora and Jamner had good raining.
Lesser raining has led to stopping of further cultivation and farmers
are now looking for alternate means to save their cultivated crops.
District has received mere 14% raining to that of average 702.4mm
as of 24th July 2008.
NMU announces Inter-divisional sports competition schedule:
North Maharashtra University Jalgaon has announced schedule for inter-divisional
NMU level sports competition beginning from 10th September. Competition
has most events in Jalgaon division to that of Erandol, Dhule and
Nandurbar. Event ends on 24th December.
It has sports like Chess, Cross Country, Table tennis, Kabbadi, Badminton,
Handball, Mallakhamb, ground competitions, basket ball, volleyball,
pistol, rifle shooting, Judo, swimming, Kho-Kho, wrestling, cricket,
hockey, boxing, weight lifting and baseball etc.
First district level swimming competition on 27th July:
Water sports association is conducting first school level swimming
competition on 27th July at District sports complex swimming tank.
Competition has nursery to class X students various groups in free
style, breast stroke, back stroke and butter fly category. It has
first, second and third prizes for all categories.
24th July:
Electricity issues continue - industries gets hit with two days closure:
Continued load shedding and zero loads on electricity are now hitting
industrial sector. State has recently ordered compulsory 40 hours
closure for industries to that of earlier one day (Saturday). Residential
areas (urban and rural) continue to witness harsh hits of electricity
outages throughout week. Distribution Company has announced staggering
day (complete 24 hours power cuts) for industrial areas with effect
from 26th July with 6AM to 6PM power cut. This adds with supply tripping
taken four to five times throughout day.
Madhukar Co-operative sugar factory election:
Madhukar Co-operative sugar factory election picture is getting clear.
It now has two panels with 18 independent candidates for 22,092 voting
sugarcane producers and 278 society members. Election area spreads
in Yaval and Raver taluka. Authorities have initiated process requirements
and most of candidates are beginning their campaigns from today.
Call to NGOs under "Ground for every village" scheme:
District sports authority has called district's all rural and backward
areas NGOs to benefit from State's newly announced Sports ground for
every village and gym development grant. It avails Rs. 1 Lakh grant
for ground for minimum of 3 acres land based ground with up to 80%
and maximum of 1 Lakh. Please contact sports authority for detailed
information thereof.
23rd July:
Electricity situation remains affected:
Jalgaon district continues to witness woes of electricity front with
continued load shedding and zero loads. Most of urban areas are having
around 10/ 12 hours of power outages while rural areas have whopping
16/18 hours of power cuts. Nashik divisional office of Electricity
distribution Company has approved its proposal to move zero loads
from Jalgaon city. This proposal is yet to get approval from State
CM.
Co-operative depositors make protest march:
Jalgaon district depositors' action committee made a protest march
yesterday at Azad Grounds in Mumbai to draw Government's attention
on 600 Crores of deposits not being paid by around 950 Co-operative
societies in Jalgaon. It had around 1,000 depositors from district.
Most of these co-operative societies lured depositors by offering
14% Intrest rates to hard earners. Recent increasing non-performing
assets, lower loans recovery has now led to non-ability of these societies
in repaying deposits due.
District farmers get 50 Rs. per quintal aid for onion:
Jalgaon, Chopda and Amalner agricultural produces marketing committee's
around 5,000 farmers having sold onion would get state's special aid
of Rs. 50 per quintal amounting to 82 Lakhs. This would be for period
from January until March 2008 with maximum cap of 200 tones per producer.
Amount would be credited in respective farmer accounts after due verification
of papers by deputy registrar of co-operative department. Jalgaon
APMC has 4,095 producers having 119,543 quintal onion sold, Chopda
APMC has 650 producers with 40,000 quintal onion while Amalner ahs
186 farmers with 3,440 quintal onion.
JDCC Bank elections:
Jalgaon District's apex co-operative bank JDCC Bank has called its
896 various multi-purpose societies to send its resolutions nominating
members to vote by 05th August. All member societies having registered
on or before 30th June 2005 are eligible for voting in this election.
Monsoon raining delays pain whole region - Drinking water, electricity
and crops most affected
22nd July:
Corporation elections 2008 - sub-urban areas equally enthusiastic:
Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation term election 2008 is arriving.
This election is witnessing equal participation and enthusiasm in
newly developed sub-urban and nearby villages like Mehrun, Pimprala,
Khedi, Mamurabad, Asoda, Bambhori, Bhadli, Kusumba and Chincholi.
Some of these newly linked, expanded and included areas in Corporation
limits are still waiting for growth and basic amenities. Mehrun and
Khedi along with Pimprala are still having rural feeling in spite
of being in Corporation limits.
District administration enforces section 37(1):
Jalgaon district administration has enforced Bombay Police Act 1951
section 37(1) and 37(3) with effect from 22nd July until 05th August
2008. This has been put in specially seeing increasing number of attacks
on State Electricity distribution Company offices amidst hefty power
cuts.
Education for all drive merit test:
District educational authority conducted a merit test for students
from Class II until VII under Education for All drive. This test had
65% students clearing while rest 35% turned unsuccessful. Exam had
district's 209,343 students appearing. District education office has
also reported 99% school registration of 6-14 years age group. It
has registered 33.73 Lakh books demand with divisional depot under
free text books for all drive from Class I until VIII and has received
29.89 Lakh books by now.
21st July:
Electricity woes continue throughout region:
Entire Jalgaon district continue to witness continued power outages
and frequent zero loads throughout days and in midnights. District's
many taluka have seen increasing protest and rage on Electricity Company
officials on such unprecedented electricity cuts. Company's District
unit conducted a meeting at circle office to replace zero load groups
and get immediate sanction for the same.
District had 8 hours of zero loads on Saturday while nearby Nashik
district's many places had lesser zero load cutting. It also plans
to put 10 hours of load shedding and then continued 14 hours power
supplies to get rid of zero loads. Next 2-3 days with head office
sanctions would clear picture on this aspect.
District Parent minister meeting review:
Jalgaon district parent minister conducted a review meeting yesterday
to discuss various measures on current draught-like situation. Minister
ordered formation of various action plans with base consideration
of no more raining. It has also urged State Electricity Distribution
Company to avail new connections, banks to ease their collection process
from farmers. Meet also had discussion on Girana dam water. District
MLA and MP have sent a caution note to Girana irrigation authority
for not allowing picking up Girana dam water by other districts. District
agricultural authority has announced emergency crop planning schedule
as under:
Sunflower, Soyabeen and pulses by second fortnight of July. It cultivation
is required to be extended until 15th August then cultivate sunflower,
corn and related retail products. Soyabeen could be cultivated until
25th July. It has also urged farmers to temporarily cultivate and
manage animals feed right within farms.
Lok Nyayalaya on 03rd August:
District judiciary in association with Jalgaon, Dhule and Nandurbar
district co-operative Lawyers association is conducting Lok Nyayalaya
(Public court) for settlement of prolonged disputes at its Courts
in B. J. Market in Jalgaon. This court would hear Co-operative banks,
co-operative sugar factories, co-operative societies, ginning factories,
salaried societies, housing and house loan societies, various work
organisation cases.
20th July:
Electricity woes continue to pain life in Jalgaon:
Whole Jalgaon district is witnessing one of worst ever power cut scenario
since last two days. Saturday went more pathetic amidst no certainty
in electricity supplies through urban and rural areas. Zero loads
with discontinued supplies of around 1 to 2 hours in between made
living dismal as power storing batteries in invertors also turned
down.
The political fraternity of region seems unhurt on such painful experience
and none has reverted with strong rage on electricity supply chaos.
A group of protestors attacked and stone pelted electricity distribution
Company office in Jalgaon and Amalner yesterday following zero loads
made through Friday night. Whole Friday and Saturday along with nights
have gone most harassing way with no concrete responses for future
pathway have arrived. District Police has posted special security
at all major offices of Company to avoid mishaps on account of rage.
District administration reviews meet on draught-like situation:
Jalgaon district administration yesterday conducted a review meeting
to analyse post-low rainfall situation. Meet discussed draught-like
situation, measures like cutting down water supplies for future purposes
and tanker supplies of 62 villages through 51 tankers. It has arrived
at decision to call private party tenders for animal feed supplies
to smoothen pressure.
Administration is receiving increasing number of daily wages based
labor under state employment guarantee scheme signaling no-work scenario
following agricultural downturn. It is conducting 41 works under this
employment guarantee scheme in 12 taluka and has 851 labor attached
for work.
Waghur dam has storage survival for next 106 days and would supply
water to Jalgaon every alternate day with immediate effect while Chalisgaon
is getting 3-days alternate supplies while Pachora would get water
supplies for next 4 months. Jamner on devastated state with almost
zero storage and tanker based supply. District's 6 dams namely Manyad,
Bori, Agnavati, Hivra, Tondapur and Bahula are at zero levels. Hatnur
has 37% storage, Girana has 3.42%, Suki has 43%, Ambhora has 44%,
Mangrul has 79% and Bhokarbari has 8.41% while Bhor project has 0.75%
storage. District parent minister is arriving and conducting a review
meets today at Collectorate.
Jalgaon Airport land acquisition:
District block office having undertaken airport land acquisition work
has expressed process completion likely by November. It expects receiving
consent deed from respective farmers for this land acquisition and
is assuring project-rehabilitated status and benefits to these farmers.
Administration has assured 66% more rates to that of government's
official rates against this acquisition.
District's 13 village panchayat on term/ mid-term election today:
Jalgaon district's 13 village panchayat are undergoing term and bye-elections
today. This include Andalvadi (Raver), Mudi (Amalner), Hirapur (Chalisgaon)
for term election while Vavadada (Jalgaon), Sonari (Jamner), Bhadgaon,
Balwadi, Satod (MuktaiNagar), Kolamba and Tavse Bk (Chopda), Jargaon
(Pachora), Kusumba (Raver), Rotvad (Dharangaon) are undergoing bye-elections
today.
Corporation electoral roll - 595 objections received:
Jalgaon city Municipal Corporation has received total of 595 objections
to its newly published electoral roll. Administration would begin
hearing of these complaints from Monday. This election is likely to
have lesser polling booths to that of 340 last in last election. Administration
is planning to setup polling per 1,200 voters this year.
19th July:
Black Friday for whole Jalgaon district - season's worst power cuts
witnessed yesterday:
Whole Jalgaon district witnessed one of most deteriorating power cuts
and load shedding on Friday. State electricity Distribution Company
began drastic zero load factor on Thursday night at 11PM and carried
it until Friday midnight 2AM. This followed another regular load shedding
in morning at 6AM until 9.30AM and then zero load factor again from
11.30AM until 16.30PM. This followed another round of sharp cut in
form of zero load from 19.30PM until 21PM.
It has announced increase in load shedding by 1hour taking total official
load shedding count to 8 hours in urban and 16 hours in rural areas.
The zero load factors would remain additional to this load shedding
and would be without any intimation and notice at any moment based
on headquarters orders. Meanwhile district administration has ordered
Company to exclude public water supplies system from load shedding
in 192 villages to ease water supplies woes. This includes well acquired,
pumping stations in respective zone.
Banana rates touch Rs. 650:
District farmers have a reason to feel good amidst monsoon woes. APMC
in district are sending banana crop for auction in nearby Burhanpur
in MadhyaPradesh and are getting Rs. 650 rate per quintal. The Yaval,
Raver and MuktaiNagar farmers prefer Burhanpur markets for selling
their crops to get this rate benefit.
Delaying monsoon raining woes economy in Jalgaon:
The agricultural dominated Jalgaon district is on verge of dry or
one of lowest monsoon raining since last 3 years. Low rainfall and
basic infrastructural issues for drinking water and electricity are
leading and heading district towards one of severe financial set backs
in terms of money circulation ahead. Region's most of farmers have
cultivated crops with hopes of last year alike good raining. Low to
no raining is damaging this cultivation and leading to another cultivation
wasting all earlier investments. Farmers having taken benefit of Central
government farmer debt waiver scheme would again entering same state
of borrowings if same scenario continues.
Monsoon statistics reports 130mm average raining expected to that
of 56.39mm in June 2008 and mere 41.3mm actual raining to that of
206mm in July 2008 until now.
District roll-ball skating team selection on Sunday:
District roll-ball skating association is conducting selection test
of under-17 age group boys and girls with mixed team selection at
District Sports complex in Jalgaon on Sunday at 4PM. This team would
represent district in state roll ball skating competition to be played
in Jalgaon. Jalgaon is hosting two-days State level roll ball skating

District administration announces intensives measures to tackle
draught-like situation:
Jalgaon district administration has announced intensive measures to
tackle current scenario of lower rainfall leading to water shortage,
animal feed shortage. District's Parola, Chalisgaon, Bodwad and Jamner
are witnessing feed shortage. It has banned moving of standing sugarcane
to other districts and state for upcoming 15 days. It also plans to
set up 45 camp positions on panchayat levels to ease this shortage.
There has been sharp fall in milk collection through district. Jalgaon
milk union has reported around 20,000 liters of short collection leading
to lower availability.
Panchayat bye-elections on Sunday, 20th July:
Raver, Amalner, Chalisgaon, Jalgaon, Jamner, Bhadgaon, MuktaiNagar,
Chopda, Pachora and Dharangaon taluka few of Panchayat are undergoing
term and mid-term election on Sunday, 20th July.
District to offer grand welcome to relay baton:
The relay baton began for commonwealth youth sports competition at
Pune is crossing through Jalgaon. This baton has 120 members and district's
20 players would also get a chance here. This relay baton has around
9,000 Km route and would cross through Jalgaon via MuktaiNagar and
would move out from Parola.
17th July:
Pachora Municipal Council president resigns following No-Confidence
motion:
Pachora Municipal council yesterday undergone voting for trust vote
following no-confidence motion introduced by house members. The confidence
proposal received 19 votes in favor versus 1 against it, 2 members
with neutral mode and 2 absent.
Monsoon woes - Chalisgaon taluka on verge of re-cultivation:
Chalisgaon taluka villages excluding those on Girana River bank are
on verge of second cultivation for this season. Almost no Monsoon
rainfall has led to this drastic panic situation for farmers in Chalisgaon.
Taluka has 82,700 hectares Kharip cultivation area and had around
42,000 hectare cotton cultivation. Apart from villages on Girana river
banks, all other areas are in desperate need of good rainfall.
Animal feed and drinking water are other two big challenges. Administration
is using 13 tankers for supplying to 14 villages.
District administration is reviewing status in Pachora, Bhadgaon,
Chalisgaon and Parola facing this issue and has urged citizens co-operative
in this difficult time.
Government Engineering College Jalgaon gets Electronics and Tele-communication
Course:
Government College of Engineering Jalgaon has received AICTE approval
for starting up Electronics and Tele-communications Course from this
academic year. It has also received extension of intake by 60 seats
in Mechanical engineering. It now has Civil, Mechanical, Electrical,
Computers and Information technology engineering Courses totaling
to 330 seats.
Corporation elections 2008 preparations:
Jalgaon city municipal Corporation term elections announcement has
trigged political fraternity all the way. Election commission has
set up Rs. 1 Lakh expenditure limit for Jalgaon Corporation (Class
C Corporation) election for individual candidate and has set Rs. 3,000
as deposit for general and 1,500 for reserved category candidate.
Election's most interesting effect is to see co-alignment and associating
of various forums/ groups and parties. Khandesh Aghadi, NCP, BJP,
Shivsena are amongst lead runners discussing various associating offers.
While a few of established Corporators are in plans to float their
own groups in this election. A few years back formed Navnirman group
announced its formal entry into NCP yesterday. It has 3 Corporators
in current Corporation body.
16th July:
District water woes intensify: 200 villages facing water shortage:
Delaying monsoon raining and absence of good raining has now led to
drinking water woes to almost 200 villages in district. District's
6 water dam have turned zero and has received mere 12% of average
rainfall by now. Lakes are also drying. Currently Girana dam is region's
major supply resource.
Lesser raining has also led to shortage of milk and animal feeds which
is likely to further impact farming life cycle. Water shortage includes
18 villages from Jamner, 14 from Chalisgaon, Pachora - 12, Bhadgaon
- 5, Amalner -3 and Parola -1. District has 3.50 Crores cultivation
done and it could damage if no rain arrives in next few days. Corporation
has signaled of more water cuts in city seeing this shortage.
Corporation term election - issues and sellers:
Jalgaon city Municipal Corporation's second term election is announced
for 31st August. All political parties have begun their intensive
preparations for getting best of results. This year election has many
quick seller topics. This includes Waghur dam water for Jalgaon as
most discussed by ruling party members. Opposition has alleged housing
case against Corporators as major discussed. Parties have begun interviewing
and individual ward based candidate selection.
Federation of associations of Maharashtra demands cancellation
of Cess tax:
State government's proposed replacement of Octroi tax has spread panic
in trade community. Federation of associations of Maharashtra has
demanded immediate removal of Cess tax for Corporations where Octroi
tax has been waived. It has alleged State of levying this tax without
discussion with association representation and moreover this would
lead to business loses for traders.
Cess tax requires registration of traders and tax payment on whole
turnover to that of goods bought inside in city limits as in Octroi
tax earlier.
15th July:
Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation election on 31st August:
State Election Commission has announced Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation
term election voting on 31st August 2008. Corporation term is ending
on 20th September. Corporation administration has received fax in
this concern. Election code of conduct has been affected and nomination
forms would be available from 05th until 12th August. Scrutiny is
on 13th followed by last date of withdrawal as 18th August. Voting
is on 31st August followed by votes counting on 01st September.
Corporation publishes electoral roll:
Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation has published its updated electoral
roll. This new electoral roll has 261,738 voters in Jalgaon Corporation
area with 69 wards. Newly published roll is available for public view
at Corporation, Tahsil, Collectorate, respective Talathi offices.

JDCC Bank to avail crop loans by 31st July:
District's apex co-operative bank JDCC bank has announced availing
fresh farm loans for this season by 31st July. Earlier it has waived
119 Crores debt of 64,898 farmers in district under central government
farmer debt waiver program. It is in process of distributing certificates
of no debt to member farmers. This includes 521 societies with 283
from A grade and 182 in C grade.
It also plans to avail onetime settlement scheme for above 5-acre
land owning 22,527 farmers. This NABARD scheme avails 25% discounting
or Rs. 20,000 whichever is larger in due interest.
District police sports competition ends:
Jalgaon district police conducted sports competition 2008 ended yesterday
at Police parade ground. The police headquarters have won general
championship for the year while jalgaon division has won runner up.
Competition had hockey, boxing, welter weight, wrestling, and judo
and ground sports.
13th July:
District soil pH reaches 8.4:
Increasing use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides, wider use of
submersibles to extract ground level water has led to sharp rise in
Jalgaon district's soil pH to 8.4. Jalgaon's average pH range is 6.50
to 7%. Recent survey conducted by soil survey has conveyed this statistics
in around 24,000 samplings done throughout the year.
pH (power of hydrogen) is the measure of the acidity or alkalinity
of a solution. Soil pH is an important consideration for farmers and
gardeners for several reasons; including the fact that many plants
and soil life forms prefer either alkaline or acidic conditions, that
some diseases tend to thrive when the soil is alkaline or acidic,
and that the pH can affect the availability of nutrients in the soil.
Pimprala Rath festivity tomorrow:
Jalgaon's rich cultural heritage of 133 years of Pimprala Rath festivity
would be observed tomorrow. Vitthal temple trust is conducting special
Rath festivity on eve of Ashadhi Ekadashi. Rath would move from around
whole Jalgaon city. The 8 years ago built new Rath is 24.5 high, 9.5
feet in length and 10.5 feet wide.
Corporation election preparations begin:
Jalgaon city political sphere is heating with intense preparations
gearing up for upcoming term election of Municipal Corporation. All

Jalgaon player Shridhar Tripathi has entered into Semis of under-17
junior category state rated table tennis competition at Thane. He
has defeated Mumbai sub-urban and Mumbai players in qualifying matches.
He is currently rated as 88th in tournament.
District police sports competitions end today:
Jalgaon district police conducted sports competition 2008 is ending
today. Competition has Amalner, Jalgaon and Police Headquarters as
3 participating divisions along with Bhusawal, Chopda, Pachora, Chalisgaon,
Faizpur and MuktaiNagar as total 9 division's 210 police players participation.
This includes 15 Police officers and 10 ladies police.
12th July:
Corporation general elections 2008 electoral review completed:
Corporation election office has completed ward-based survey of Jalgaon
city municipal corporation electoral roll. It is publishing ward-wise
proof listing on Monday, 14th July. Last date of filling objections/
comments is 19th July followed by final electoral roll on 02nd August.
State Election Commission's two officers are arriving in Jalgaon on
18th July. It has also published below poverty lines families listing.
This listing is based on 2005-06 survey and is available with various
organisations. Last date of filling objections is 31st July.
Monsoon 2008 - 93.3mm raining yesterday in district:
Entire Jalgaon district witnessed good raining yesterday evening.
Meteorological department has reported total rainfall of 93.3mm throughout
district. This includes Jamner, Pachora and Bhadgaon on top with 14mm

District athletics member Rajesh Jadhav and Pravin Patil selected
as referee for national ground competitions:
Jalgaon district athletics association secretary Rajesh Jadhav and
joint-secretary Pravin Patil have been selected as referee for Thane
Marathon Trust and District Association conducted National Marathon
Competition on Sunday, 13th July. Both are working as technical referee
since last 6 years.
Jalgaon Police sports competition begins:
District police sports competition 2008 begun yesterday at police
parade ground. Competition has various ground competitions including
racing in 100/ 200/ 500 meters, long jumps etc.
11th July:
District census jumps by 22 Lakhs in 60 years:
Jalgaon district statistical office figures suggest net increase of
Jalgaon population by 22 lakhs 11,339 in last 60 years. It further
estimates district census to touch 40 Lakhs figure by 2011. Jalgaon's
majority lives in rural area (2,629,896) and urban area counts to
1,052,794 totaling to 3,682,690 with 732,767 families. This includes
23.81 Lakhs literate with 85.9% male and 64.3% female.
Jalgaon city's new growth areas like Mahabal and Pimprala have witnessed
amazing growth in terms of living standards and new arrivals. Biggest
challenges for youth here is encouragement by means of arrival of
large scale employment providing units.
District administration begins water shortage scenario study:
Amidst lowest rainfall in last 2 years, administration has begun its
homework of reviewing status of every taluka. It is preparing budgetary
aspects for employment guarantee to ease draught like situation. Currently
district 59 villages are on 49 tanker water supplies and 2 have received
temporary supplies. District farmers are deep panic on expectations
of good raining to save their cultivation. Most of municipal councils
have altered their water supplies schedule from 2 days alternate to
3/5 days based on resources availability.
10th July:
District's 60% cultivation complete:
District farmers have completed around 60% cultivation for this Kharip
season. Usual trend of completing cultivation by 15th July has delayed
following lower rainfall. District's 488,010 hectares (60.64%) has
been completed. Agricultural authorities have estimated around 10%
fall in cotton cultivation this season while corn, Jwar, Soya and
sunflower are likely to witness rise.
Jalgaon's national highway#6 turns to Asian highway#46:
India's 8 national highways have been converted to Asian Highways
with aim of increasing highway length within and outside country.
This also includes Jalgaon's national Highway#6 having renamed to
Asian Highway#46 and extended from Kharagpur - Nagpur - Dhule. Highways
have been extended to nearby Bangladesh, Myanmar, Nepal and Pakistan.
District receives order for availing work on demand under E.G.S.:
State rehabilitation department has ordered Jalgaon district administration
to avail work on demand under state employment guarantee scheme. This
order has came amidst less than 50% rainfall till July mid. Delayed
raining has led to lower cultivation in whole region. District had
39.20% raining in last year by this time to that of 11.8% this year.
Zero load takes away power from city:
Jalgaon city along with district yesterday witnessed two hours zero
loading thrice leading to severe power outages. Distribution Company
has earlier announced additional one hour load shedding following
lower availability. Sudden zero loads area leading to impact on public
water supply systems. Jalgaon city has load shedding of daily 7 hours
while rural areas have 12 hours load shedding as per new plan.
09th July:
Tapi River Birth festivity today:
Jalgaon district is celebrating Tapi River birth festivity today.
Various events are being organized today on Tapi River bank areas
at Ajnad (Raver). Tapi originated from Multai in Baitul district of
MadhyaPradesh. It flows through MadhyaPradesh, Gujarat and Maharashtra
and covers large areas of Jalgaon. Hatnur dam is region's only dam
on this River helping around 25,000 hectares of farming and 175 villages
for drinking water.
It flows through 130kms region and is at 740kms from ocean. It has
witnessed mega flooding in 1944, 1959, 1977, 1998, 2006 and 2007 resulting
in huge losses for areas nearby.
Draught-like situation raises panic in administration:
Jalgaon district administration along with local governance is in
panic state of mind on lower to no raining in this monsoon season.
As a result, it has announced reduction of water supplies to cities
and villages by 25%. Lesser raining is also causing drinking water
shortage in 58 villages. Administration has acquired 139 well in 128
villages to smoothen supply. Corporation has announced 10% straight
cut in supplies to handle likely draught situation.
It has announced special release from Girana and Hatnur dam on 10th
July to ease 10/ 12 taluka water supplies woes. District has received
mere 24.9mm rainfall (11%) as of now. State Electricity distribution
Company has announced additional one load shedding in whole region
to balance its supplies.
Banana rates touch Rs. 450:
Lower arrival of banana and increased demand has led to increase in
rates by 100 Rupees per quintal in last week. Farmers are cutting
lesser banana due to low rainfall. Northern India is also witnessing
very low arrival of mango. As a result of all these factors, banana
demand has risen sharply.
District democracy day - 123 complaints received:
District administration has received 123 applications on eve of district
democracy day for July. This included 31 for revenue department, 22
for ZP, 6 for Police Superintendent office, 29 for co-operative department,
4 for electricity distribution Company, 10 for Councils, 2 for PWD,
2 for Irrigation department, 9 for land records office and 8 others.
08th July:
District administration reports 2,600 hectares area sugarcane lying:
Jalgaon district administration has completed assessment of lying
sugarcane with farmers for the year 2007-08. It has reported 2,605
hectares of cultivation area having sugarcane stocks lying. There
are around 2,500 farmers having sugarcane lying and all these would
receive 25,000 per hectare state government grant amounting to 6 Crores
51 Lakhs 27,000.
Chopda taluka is on top of list even after Chopda and Madhukar sugar
factories remaining open until last. Jalgaon taluka - 211.25 hectares
(180 farmers), Jamner - 10.1 (9), Erandol: 27.5 (30), Dharangaon -
172.44 (171), Bhusawal - 82.12 (89), Bodwad - 3.11 (5), MuktaiNagar
- 8.71 (7), Yaval - 72.86 (86), Raver - 19.13 (15), Pachora - 6.05
(15), Chalisgaon - 14.23 (31), Bhadgaon - 35.69 (54), Amalner - 188.51
(172), Parola - 2.56 (3) and Chopda - 1,751.34 (1,633).
Acute drinking water shortage in Jamner:
Jamner city is witnessing harsh times with decade most drastic drinking
water shortage. City is getting drinking supply once a month and there
are 16 to 17 tankers supplying water all around city. Last years low
raining and this years very low to no raining in region remained major
cause of shortage. Jamner gets water supplies from Lahasar, Mundkheda
and Hivari Hivarkhede dam. These entire dams turned zero few days
back. Council later took water from Shevage Pimpri dam in Fattepur.
This dam water has also turned down.
As a result whole city is now getting water from public and private
acquired well throughout city. Permanent drinking water solution is
biggest demand of region
Electricity Load shedding paralyses life in region:
Entire Jalgaon district is witnessing intense electricity load shedding
since last week. Moreover load shedding has no time table or schedule
as such. This irregular cutting is paralyzing life badly. Electricity
Supply Company has reported demand supply shortage as major reason
for cuts.
No-confidence motion on Pachora Council President:
Pachora Municipal Council yesterday witnessed sharp exchange of words
in between President and members. The General body meeting called
after 3 months gap had 126 topics on agenda. Body disapproved 106
of these topics and members have now posted no-confidence motion against
President with District Collectorate.
07th July:
Call for nominations to National Handicapped welfare award:
ZP Social welfare department has called for nominations to State social
justice and welfare for handicapped persons for year 2008. Nomination
forms are available with office and authority has requested handicapped
for nominating.
06th July:
Jalgaon airport development:
District administration regional office has issued land acquisition
notices to 134 farmers under section 4(1) of land acquisition Act.
Earlier administration measured these lands to arrive at final decision.
It has conveyed hearing in case of any of queries/ questions in regards
of acquisition. Administration has involved district agricultural
superintendent for valuation of fruits, trees and cultivation if any
and to irrigation department for taking charge of well and machinery.
It is likely to receive final valuation proposal by 12th July.
Central railways announce new Amravati - Surat Passenger train:
Central railways have announced 125/ 126 Amravati - Surat Passenger
train from July end. This train would halt at Bhusawal, Jalgaon and
Amalner stations in region. Dharangaon region has expressed anguish
not availing stoppage of this train. This train would leave Monday
and Friday and cross Jalgaon at 2.10PM while it would return every
Thursday and Sunday from Surat and would cross Jalgaon on 5.45PM.
District council schools reports decreasing student count:
Jalgaon district council run schools are having a low time amidst
booming education scenario. ZP runs school at every village in district
under 'School for every village' programme aiming at availing primary
education for each and every Child from all layers of society. Jalgaon
district as of today has ZP run 1699 schools, respective area council/
corporation run 94 schools, 193 private aided schools and 136 private
unaided schools totaling to 2,130 schools.
Stream wise breakup suggests 1,834 Marathi medium, 230 Urdu medium,
54 English medium, 9 Hindi medium and 3 Sindhi medium schools. Most
of ZP and council schools are in bad state of basic infrastructural
resources leading to low inflow. Recent private and quality focused
education approach has significantly pressurized its heads to overview
quality aspect in terms of teaching and standards.
This includes 582 schools not having drinking water facility, 119
schools without electricity, and 339 without toilets, 278 without
playgrounds and 1521 not having owned water resources.
05th July:
Madhukar Co-operative sugar factory election:
Madhukar co-operative sugar factory election nomination filling is
ending on Monday, 07th July. Yesterday 58 candidates submitted their
71 applications. This has now totaled to 249 applications sold for
22 seats.
04th July:
Monsoon 2008 - 50% cultivation completed:
District agricultural authority has reported completion of around
50% cultivation in district. This delay is mainly due to slower or
late arrival of monsoon this season. Amalner, Chopda, Dharangaon and
Erandol had good raining in beginning and this has led to good cultivation
there as well.
District has witnessed 94.5mm raining by now in average with Yaval
on top with 126mm and Bhusawal on lowest with 1.2mm rainfall. Hatnur
dam has 24.58% water storage, Girana has 6.24%, Suki - 42.28%, Bhokarbari
- 9.17%, Mangurl - 79.91% and rest Manyad, Bori, Ambhora, Agnavati,
Tondapur, Hivra and Bahula have no water storage.
District banana producers in trouble following transport strike:
The ongoing transporters strike throughout the country has led to
troubles for banana producers in Raver and Yaval taluka. Shipments
sent earlier are halted in midway leading to possible damages. Strike
has 90% truck owners' participation. Banana rates are stable at 290
per quintal in-spite of shortage in market.
District's 194 villages water samples found contaminated:
District health authority has reported Jalgaon's 194 villages' water
samples as contaminated. This includes most from rural areas. It took
2,015 samples (720 in urban areas) in May-2008. It has appealed governing
authority to take suitable immediate actions to avail best services.
VHP India strike evokes response in district:
Vishwa Hindu Parishad called India strike closure yesterday evoked
response in whole district. Jalgaon city's most markets remained closed
along with Pachora, Bhadgaon, Bhusawal, Amalner, Chopda, Parola and
other major places.
03rd July:
District administration distributes farmer debt waiver certificate:
Jalgaon district's 111,000 farmers received their debt waiver certificate
yesterday in official ceremony at JDCC Bank Hall. Administration also
gifted with a bush for cultivation and oath paper for free from open-toileting
'Hagandari Mukt'. The whole debt waiver exercise was conducted with
JDCC Bank and nationalised banks along with divisional deputy registrar,
lead banker Central Bank and other associated concerns.
It has distributed 75,400 certificates yesterday and rest would be
distributed based on paper completions by 15th July.
Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) called "India strike closure"
today:
Vishwa Hindu Parishad has called for a day India strike closure today
on 03rd July on Jammu and Kashmir Government announced ban on Amarnath
Yatra and roll back of 100 acres land given to Amarnath board. VHP
activists in districts along with various trade associations supporting
actively.

Boom time for branded retailing:
Jalgaon city and nearby region is witnessing revolutionary introduction
of large scale national retail brands through retail stores. ITC has
opened up its John Player range of life style clothing retail flagship
store this Sunday. Earlier NEXT opened its electronic retail chain
outlet in Navi Peth along with many other life style retailing stores.
Vishal mega mart and big bazaar are soon marking their Jalgaon presence
in form of mega openings.
Agrimart project in Jalgaon along with 20 districts in State:
State agricultural authorities in financial aid from World Bank are
introducing agricultural marts in 20 districts in state including
Jalgaon. Mart proposes to enhance basic infrastructural facilities
for selling agricultural produces, benefiting farmers through open
competitive marketing and introducing farmers directly in market.
Mart would have 15/20 groups of 20 farmers each producing same crop
and would be named as 'Village Organiser'. Such 10 V.O. would form
a registered produces Company and then setup farmer market. Around
3,000 farmers would stake in this Company.
Company would avail all required resources for grading, packing and
sales management for its member farmers and enhance member skills
through technical discussions from time to time.
District's 29 candidates succeeds MPSC exam:
Jalgaon district's 29 candidates have cleared Maharashtra State Public
Services Commission conducted for Police Sub-Inspector, Sales tax
inspector (Class-3).
01st June:
Corporation standing committee review:
Jalgaon city municipal Corporation standing committee met yesterday
to discuss 6 topics on its agenda. It has decided to offer re-tender
for setting up new shopping complex and parking space on Khwajamiya
Chowk named Vivekananda Complex. It has also approved special fire
station at Gendalal Mill area estimated at 26.53 Lakhs cost. Amongst
other topics include new tender for Government polytechnic road construction
and approved availing financial aid to parents of youth having died
in Mehrun Lake. It has also announced levying of service charges in
industrial area from this financial year. This decision has evoked
sharp protest amongst industrialists.
V. V. Library celebrates 131st anniversary:
Whole region is celebrating Vallabhdas Valji Library Jalgaon's 131st
anniversary today. Library was setup on 01st July 1887 with name 'Native
Journal Library' and later was renamed to 'V. V. District Library'
in 1908. Journey started with mere 10 members and now has around 3,000
members. Library in enriched with good books collection in all terms.
District farmers to get crop loans from today:
Jalgaon district's nationalised and co-operative banks are beginning
new crop loan issuing process from today. District administration
is also initiating its debt free farmers certificate from today as
it has now arrived at final listing for debt waiver.
Neha Mudliyar gets FIDE rating:
Jalgaon's Class VI student Neha Mudliyar has qualified for international
chess FIDE rating. She has euqalised FIDE rated player in ongoing
competition in Kerala and scored 1.5 points by now. She has become
district's 12th player to have FIDE rating and Khandesh's youngest
player (age: 11) and would get listed in October-2008 listing.
