31st January:
Gold touches all time high:

Sudden demand pickup on international levels has led to all time high rates for Gold. It touched 14,454 per 10gms yesterday. Silver has also jumped by Rs. 500 in a single day. Jalgaon jewellers sold gold at 14,454 and later closed at 14,400 per 10gm.

Raver constituency - new constituency, new equations:
Raver is Khandesh's second parliamentary constituency after Jalgaon and has been formed by restructuring earlier Erandol constituency with new delimitations. Raver is amongst State's only few constituencies having OBC voters based political equations. It includes Bhusawal, Jamner, Raver, MuktaiNagar and Chopda assembly constituencies from Khandesh along with Malkapur from Vidarbha zone. BJP having stronghold in rural areas of Jalgaon and Erandol has critical challenge here to maintain its winning scenario in newly inducted Congress influencing areas. BJP, Congress-I and NCP are in search of good candidates for this all new constituency.

District sugarcane procurement to end by February:
Decreased sugarcane productivity this year is likely to end up sugarcane procurement by sugar factories right within February. Both Faizpur and Chopda have sugarcane availability until February mid only. Chopda has more or same scenario. This season's sugarcane is sold at Rs. 1,200 per ton with exception of Faizpur availing Rs. 1,211 per ton. Faizpur factory has processed 50,510 tons of sugarcane and produced 155,900 bags of sugar by now maintaining top rank. Chopda has processed 55,975 tons and produced 43,767 sugar bags.

District amateur Lawn tennis competition:
Jalgaon district amateur law tennis association is conducting district level competition at district sports complex today. Competition is invitation-based event and would be inaugurated today morning.

30th January:
Corporation budget woes - likely to raise water and house taxes:

Jalgaon city municipal Corporation administration is preparing annual budget and is likely to hard-hit Jalgaonities in name of Waghur dam water. Primary reports suggest tripling of water taxes and doubling of house taxes. It would likely present its annual budget in first half of February. The taxing budget could also have proposal for hefty 565 Crores underground drainage and water supplies line. Corporation has failed to avail ground level services in its owned shopping complexes as well as basic infrastructural resources like roads and supplies.

State conducted Sugarcane productivity enhancement drive:
District agricultural Authority is conducting special drive to enhance per acre sugarcane productivity in whole region as per State drive. Drive has inclusion of sugar factories and aims at availing best of agricultural equipments and engineering for good productivity. It aims to spare around 1 Crore per sugar factory area to take up current average productivity of 60 tonnes per hectare by allocating 1,000 hectare area per factory.
All related equipments buying would attract 50% government subsidy and 25% factory subsidy and would review progression every 3 years. It plans to award factories doing outstanding work with Cash Prizes of 25, 15 and 10 Lakhs to top 3 factories.

Central guaranteed rates grain buying:
Central government sponsored guaranteed rates grains continues in full pace throughout district. It has bought 65,647 quintals of corn and 87,887 quintals of Jwar by now and has paid Rs. 12.88 Crores. Scheme avails Jwar buying at Rs. 525 and corn at Rs. 540 per quintal to that of last year Rs. 515 and Rs. 525 respectively. Administration has set 14 centres throughout district for this buying.

M. J. College conducted Impact-2009 software competition:
M. J. College Computer and Information Technology department is conducting Dr. Bendale Memorial State-level two-days Software competition Impact-2009 beginning today. Competition has received 45 entries by now in Graduate and Postgraduate categories. Both categories comprise of First, Second and third prize of Rs. 5,000, 3,000 and 2,000 with memento. This is third year of competition under PEC forum of College.

29th January:
Corporation to avail drinking water supplies to nearby villages:

Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation general body met yesterday to discuss various topics on its agenda. Administration has received requests from Emco Ltd to avail Waghur dam water for industrial use. Standing committee has approved this use and has expressed its willingness to avail drinking water supplies to nearby villages facing water shortage through Waghur dam supplies.
Waghur dam current reservoir can avail drinking water for Jalgaon city for next 2 years and as a result, administration has planned to avail water supplies on requests to nearby villages and industries further.

Government Law College Mumbai wins Moot Court competition:
S. S. Maniyar Law College Jalgaon conducted National Moot court competition ended in Jalgaon with Government Law College Mumbai winning first prize along with Campus Law Centre Delhi winning runner up award. First prize was Rs. 3,000 cash and moving trophy and runner award was Rs. 2,000 cash prize and moving trophy. Jayshree Shukla, Pune and Vineer Tial won individual category awards comprising of Rs. 1,000 Cash prize along with Symbiosis College winning best memorial award.

Corporation general body approves 45 topics on agenda - plans 565 Crores ground drainage system:
Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation General body met yesterday to discuss 45 topics on its agenda. It has approved Rs. 208.14 Crores new water supplies pipelines throughout whole city along with underground drainage system at 287.29 Crores totalling to 565.43 Crores. Both projects would be implemented under Urban Infrastructure development for small and medium townships. Body has also amended development rule for broadening of roads less than 3 meters. It also approved moving of calf, cow and buffalo shelters in city to greener zones and avail Corporation owned Schools on lease basis as requested.

28th January:
Cotton payments delays further:

Jalgaon district cotton buying from CCI sponsored by State government has outstanding of around 225 Crores by now. This payment delayed by CCI has lead to liquidity crunch for farmers in region. CCI has procured around 13 Lakh quintals of cotton by now and this season procurement would likely finish by 15th February. CCI Jalgaon division comprises of Jalgaon, Dhule and Nandurbar districts. Private Cotton buying has ended for this season. CCI has paid farmers for 5.15 Lakh quintal cotton procured until 25th December by now.

ABVP national convention ends in Jalgaon:
Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad 54th National convention ended in Jalgaon with various three resolutions unanimously passed. This included rigidity in policy formation by not including Educational Sector in special economic zones (SEZ), taking stringent measures against ongoing terrorist and anti-national activities and ban illegal immigration of Bangladeshi in India.

District health authority bans opening of new Sonography Centres in district:
Jalgaon district administration conducted a review meet of consultants to update on dropping female ratio. It has decided not to permit new sonography centres opening up in Jalgaon district and has ordered closing of 6 existing centres and suspended 3. It has ordered suspension of centres having not replied to survey on 01st January 2009.

State traders reunite to fight Octroi and Cess:
State trading associations met in Aurangabad to discuss further stand on ongoing Octroi and Cess taxes on Corporation levels. It has appealed all Corporations and State government to withdraw Octroi and Cess tax within 15 days failing which it would initiate stringent protest measures throughout State. It has called statewide traders meet on 15th February at Sangli to initiate further measures based on State response.
Confederation has already filed petition in Mumbai High Court on alleged illegal way of implementing of Octroi tax. Court has second hearing of this petition on 02nd February. Confederation has authorised rights to Jalgaon based Mr. Tavari also having charge of Vice-President of State organisation for taking required legal counsel from Delhi based senior Lawyers.

Madhukar Sugar factory avails Rs. 1,211 to sugarcane:
Madhukar co-operative sugar factory Faizpur has announced Rs. 1,211 per metric ton to sugarcane. It also announced introduction of 'Madhu Sugar' and 'Green Field' named compost in open market. It has announced additional Rs. 100 for producers availing ready sugarcane in next season. Madhukar sugar would be L-30 white crystal and M-30 super crystal and is sold in 1kg packing while compost would be available in 40kg packing.

Special Cleanliness drive in Jalgaon district from today:
Jalgaon district administration is conducting special cleanliness drive from today throughout district as per central government directives. Central statistics reveals Maharashtra having reached 60% in cleanliness measures and attempts to take this to 70% levels with this drive from 26th January until 30th April. First phase of drive has construction of public toilets and cleanliness systems, spreading public awareness from 03rd February until 07th April.

Federation of All Minority Educational Organisations NMU level meet:
Federation of All Minority educational organisations is conducting North Maharashtra University level meet on 31st January. Amongst major discussions in eve includes demanding grants from State and Central government for supporting minority education and education of Muslim minority community. It would have wide participation of institute heads from Jalgaon, Dhule, Nandurbar, Nagar and Nashik.

BJP wins Bodwad APMC, NCP retains Chopda and NCP alliance wins Chalisgaon:
Congress and NCP alliance has won Chopda and Chalisgaon APMC elections while BJP has won Bodwad election. NCP retained Chopda seat and has successfully pulled power from BJP in Chalisgaon. BJP escaped and continued its Bodwad APMC ruling.

25th January:
Bodwad, Chopda and Chalisgaon APMC election:

Chalisgaon, Chopda and Bodwad agricultural produces marketing committees voting went peaceful yesterday. Chalisgaon had 93.34% voting, Chopda had 98.52% and Bodwad had 99% voting reported. Votes counting would be done today and results would be announced by afternoon.

District tourism policy meeting review:
Jalgaon district administration yesterday conducted a meet to discuss policy guidelines for Jalgaon district tourism promotion. Committee plans to introduce Khandesh festival trust to boost tourism in whole Khandesh region. Trust would aim at availing grants to social organisations, disabled and blinds organisations and look at rejuvenating Khandesh's rich traditional heritage.
District Collector would remain head of the trust along with participants from private sector. Trust would dedicate its activities in developing tourism action plan, local, regional, national and international tourist participation for developing tourism in the region.

Jalgaon district administration is conducting 59th Republic Day main ceremony at Police Parade Ground beginning on 9:15AM. Flag hoisting follows cultural programme of school students. Administration has urged participation in maximum number.

National conference on The Innovation Edge - Upside of recession:
Institute of Management and Research Jalgaon is conducting two days national convention at JDCC Bank Hall on The Innovation Edge - Upside of recession. Event has address by Tianjin University China economist Dr. Lian along with many Indian industrial sector dignitaries. Event ends on Sunday, 25th January at IMR.

ABVP National convention inaugurated amidst cheerful participation:

ABVP 54th National Convention begins today in Jalgaon:

Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) 4-days 54th National convention is beginning today at G. S. Ground Jalgaon. Gujrat State Chief Minister is arriving in Jalgaon toady to inaugurate this event. Around 1,500 ABVP members from across India are expected to participate in this event. Convention location has been named as National Saint Tukdoji Maharaj Nagari.
Key discussion aspects in this convention are terrorism shades on developing India, complex issues in Indian education system and review of last 60 years development to formulate strategy and action plan for upcoming years.
Gujrat CM would also address BJP Leaders honour ceremony today evening. This address and ceremony has been publicised as grand and historic and could likely have announcement on region's Senior Leader Sureshdada Jain future political stand.

Bhokarbari (Parola) two kids reported died of Dengue:
Parola taluka's Bhokarbari village has two kids dying of dengue fever. District' electoral roll increases by 46,000 voters:
Jalgaon district electoral roll has increased by 46,118 voters in recent updates conducted as a State EC directive for upcoming assembly elections. Administration received whopping 67,640 voters' addition and rejected 21,522 applications. This addition has enhanced Jalgaon city constituency by 5.32% through 13,991 voters added while Jamner constituency has seen reduction of voters by 1,500. Yaval and Parola assembly constituencies have been dissolved while Jalgaon city constituency has been formed.

All India literary review festivity in Chalisgaon:
Rangdhang Arts organisation is conducting Late Darvhekar memorial All India literary review festivity from Saturday, 24th January. This is eighth consecutive year of festivity and is conducting for two days with wide participation of teams from whole State. Two days festivity has presentations, plays from artists, and would end on Sunday, 5PM.

22nd January:
Chopda APMC election campaigning in full pace:

Chopda agricultural produces marketing committee campaigning has entered into final stage with voting on 24th January for 19 seats. This election has Shetkari Panel and Sahakar Panel. This committee has current ruling of Congress and NCP alliance. Agricultural department has reported cultivation of 5,100 hectares land under Jwar, 2,340 hectares in wheat and 2,900 hectares under gram along with others in minor form in this Rubby season.

Tejas Kulkarni wins Khandesh Chess competition:
Tejas Sandesh Kulkarni has won Khandesh chess academy conducted Khandesh level Chess competition by defeating Pratik Patil in finals. Dhruva Shah scored second while Pravin Somani secured third rank along with Anjali Patil scoring first in girl's category.

District gets 8,955 houses target under Rajiv Gandhi rural housing scheme:
Jalgaon district has received fresh target of setting up 8,955 houses during year 2008-09, 2009-10 under Rajiv Gandhi housing scheme. All beneficiaries under this scheme would be approved directly by village committees itself and would be eligible only if annual earning is below Rs. 96,000. It would avail Rs. 90,000 aid with 10 years repayment term for 269 square feet carpet area houses. Scheme has 60% reservation for SC and ST category and rest 40% for other categories.

National level Moot Court competition in Jalgaon on 24th January:
S. S. Maniyar Law College Jalgaon is conducting its annual national level moot court competition from 24th until 25th January. Competition has first prize of Rs. 3,000 with trophy, Second prize of Rs. 2,000/- and Trophy and individual category best participants in both boys and girls each with Rs. 1,000. Maharashtra Worker's welfare Mandal conducted two-days State athletics championship competition is beginning today in district sports complex Jalgaon. 21st January:
Octroi implementation - Aurangabad bench orders submission of affidavit:

Mumbai High Court Aurangabad bench has ordered all 7 Municipal Corporations to submit their affidavit within 7 days in regards to re-implementation of Octroi tax. This includes Jalgaon, Akola, Amravati, Malegaon, Aurangabad, Solapur and Kolhapur. State traders confederation and confederations from these districts have filed petition in High Court deeming this reinforcement as illegal. Next hearing of this case is on 28th January.

Khandesh chess competition:
Khandesh Chess academy conducted Khandesh-level chess competition began yesterday in Jalgaon. First day had Pratik Patil, Tejas Kulkarni, Ravi Dashputre and Tejas Tayade each scoring 4 points and leading jointly. Hardik Mehta is on second rank with 3.5 points

Corporation Ruling party members submit request to Mayor for availing space to Educational institutions:
Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation ruling party members have submitted a request to City Mayor for availing open space to Educational Institutions in Green Zone. State has approved provincial scheme for Jalgaon and Bhusawal. This could benefit educational institutions having set up outside city. Administration could avail space in City's no development zone to up to 8 educational institutions subjected to fulfilment of rules and regulations. It has also requested Administration to move animal husbandry set up located in city areas to Shivaji Nagar, Avhane zone by availing suitable facilities to them.

Corporation general body meeting on 36 topics on agenda on 28th January:
Jalgaon city Municipal Corporation general body is meeting on 28th January to discuss 36 various topics on its agenda. This includes grand public honour of Jalgaon native poet N. D. Mahanor along with UIDSSMT proposal plan estimated at 498 Crores. Standing committee would meet on 23rd January to discuss this implementation.

20th January:
State government issues notice to Collectorate for Industrial township formation:

Maharashtra State government has issued notice to Jalgaon district administration on non-completion of procedural part for formation of Jalgaon Industrial Township. Administration earlier issued GR and called for objections in this regards but later did not completed the process by announcing formation of Jalgaon Industrial Township.
Administration sent for final node to State urban development ministry on 31st July 2008 but did not received any further response until date. This announcement has cheered industrial sector in region on likely boost up of infrastructural resources and further growth and freedom from Corporation taxations.

APMC election results clean sweeps Rulers:
Jalgaon and Jamner agricultural produces marketing committee election results have given clear change of Ruling verdict. Shetkari Vikas Panel promoted by Khandesh Vikas Aghadhi has won 16 out of 19 seats in Jalgaon APMC election defeating Shetkari Panel.
Congress and NCP alliance Shetkari Panel has won 16 out of 18 seats in Jamner APMC election. It has received clear victory over rival BJP promoted panel.

Administration announces special plans for electoral photo identity cards:
Jalgaon district administration is conducting a special drive for photo identity cards to voters as per State EC directives in Corporation, Councils and rural areas. Drive has been divided in four sections that include Collection of Form 1B by 24th and 25th January, second by 14th and 15th February and third by 28th February and 01st March. Photo cards would be distributed on 14th and 15th February, 28th February, 01st March and 28th and 29th March.
It plans to have permanent setup for photo cards until March end. It would set moving machinery for rural areas to cover maximum number of voters. Upcoming parliamentary election would have photo identity mandatory.

Jalgaon's 9 players to represent State in National Tug of War competition:
Jalgaon district's 9 tug of war players have been selected to represent State team in upcoming National competition from 23rd until 25th January at Madurai. District team won State competition at Murtizapur. This included Rajesh Kale, Deepak Wade, Umesh Patil, Pankaj Kale, Mahesh Patil, Rahul Lad, Chandrakant Sapkale, Sachin Palkhe and Himant Baviskar. Same team would now participate in National competition.

19th January:
NMU's 17th Convocation ceremony today:

North Maharashtra University Jalgaon is conducting its annual convocation ceremony today in NMU Campus. Ceremony has Agricultural Scientist Selection Committee and India Agricultural research council President Dr. Mayi. This convocation has 66 gold medals and Ph. D. To 67 research scholars along with 11,380 degrees offered. Ceremony begins with procession from Main building to hall at 11AM.

Jalgaon and Jamner APMC voting completed:
Jalgaon and Jamner APMC voting process completed yesterday with two minor incidences reported during voting. In all 2,531 out of 2,722 voters exercised their voting (93%) for Jalgaon APMC. There are total 42 candidates in fray for 18 seats. Jamner APMC voting had 97% voting. There are 45 candidates for 18 seats in this APMC. Votes' counting is in progress today and results would be announced by afternoon.

Raver and Yaval taluka on top in State grains buying:
State sponsored guaranteed rates grain buying is in full pace at 20 centres in Jalgaon district. Raver and Yaval taluka are on top of this chart in Jwar buying. Raver has 14,080 quintals and Yaval has 13,014 quintals Jwar procured. State is availing Rs. 840 per quintal rates. Corn is second largest procured throughout all these centres.

Agricultural department registers 5 Lakh B.T. Cotton packets demand:

District agricultural department has set demands of 5 Lakh B. T. Cotton seeds for upcoming Kharip season with estimation of 4.40 Lakhs hectare area under cotton cultivation. District had 4.30 Lakhs hectare land under cotton cultivation last year. This includes Rashi-2, BG-1 and BG-2 varieties demand registered.

Jalgaon and Jamner APMC election voting today:
Jalgaon and Jamner agricultural produces marketing committees are undergoing voting today for 18 seats each. Voting is from 8AM until 5PM. Jalgaon APMC election has 12 booths throughout Jalgaon taluka while Subhash Chowk School#2 has been set for voting from Jalgaon city and nearby locations voters.
Bhusawal APMC has now 36 candidates for 16 seats. Yesterday 49 candidates have withdrawn their nominations on last day of nomination withdrawal. This APMC has Shivsena-BJP promoted Shetkari Market Bachao Panel versus NCP panel.

Institute of Management and Research Jalgaon is conducting open two days national conference on The Innovation Edge - Upside of Recession from 24th January at JDCC Bank hall. Conference aims at review of current market recession factor, exchange and sharing of views, inventing new business models and new products. It would have participation of Chinese economists along with dignitaries in industrial, educational, management and financial sector consultants.

J. T. Mahajan polytechnic Faizpur conducted career fair 2009:
J. T. Mahajan Polytechnic Faizpur is conducting State board of technical education driven annual career fair 2009 at Faizpur on Monday, 19th January. Fair has various Technical Educational courses information shared and expert lectures thereafter for selecting career after S.S.C. It has urged students from 08th until F.Y.J.C. for participating in event.

17th January:
DPDC Election results:

Jalgaon district planning and development commission election votes counting yesterday has resulted in victory to Khandesh Vikas Aghadhi candidates in major constituency area. In other than Jalgaon Constituency, Raver Congress-I councillor and Pachora BJP councillors have won DPDC seats. Election was conducted for four seats. Corporation area constituency had all 69 Corporators as voters while rest district area had 273 voters being Councillors and ZP members.

ABVP national convention preparations in full pace:
Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad Jalgaon unit is conducting its 54th National convention from 23rd until 26th January at Shiv Tirtha (G. S. Ground). Organisers have initiated full pace preparations for setting up of stage and rest of amenities. It expects participation of large number of student associates in the event.

State shooting ball competition in Jamner:
District shooting ball association is conducting two days State level shooting ball competition in Jamner from today at Eklavya School in Shivaji Nagar Jamner. Competition has first prize of Rs. 11,000, second prize of Rs. 7,000, third prize of Rs. 5,000 and fourth prize of Rs. 3,000 along with fifth to eighth prize of Rs. 1,000 each. 16th January:
State agricultural loan waiver listing from 15th February:

State government recently announced agricultural loans waiver eligible farmers final listing would be published by 15th February by JDCC Bank. Bank has received State government G.R. in this regards and has initiated processing for the same. There are around 150,000 farmers in district to be benefited from this scheme.
Process continues further with calls for objections by 15th March and certifying this listing during the same period from 28th February until 15th March. It would further call co-operative and other banks to submit their dues listing by 15th August 2009 with due approval from State Co-operative department. State has set 30th June 2009 as final date for submission from banks failing which it will not be liable for payments. This scheme has set maximum of Rs. 20,000 waiver for combined principal and interest dues.

Administration to avail smart cards to families below poverty line:
Jalgaon district has been selected amongst State's 7 district to undergo national level pilot project of availing smart cards to families below poverty line under National health insurance scheme. Card has been set at Rs. 30/- at subsidised rate for these families. It would facilitate families to get health insurance cover under various central and state schemes.

Jalgaon team leads on Latur in finals:
Jalgaon under-14 Boys team has strengthened its hold on ongoing final match versus Latur team at Nashik. Jalgaon scored 171 runs in first inning and has restricted Latur to 95/9 at the end of day. Jalgaon batting included Rohit Patel scoring 47 runs, Nikhil Patil scoring 16 runs. Jagdish Zope and Sandeep Nikam took 4 wickets each with Rohit Patel taking one wicket. Competition ends today.

Shridhar Tripathi selected as State table tennis team captain:

District forestry 10-years action plan approved:

Central forestry department has approved Jalgaon divisional social forestry action plan for period from 2008 until 2018. Jalgaon Forestry Department has 825.77 Square KM Forestry and it has divided it in 8 forestry zones, 22 Mandal and 57 remote areas. Working plan focuses on development of soil and forestry resources, enhance forestry, study climatic conditions and introduced more of cultivation.

Cotton buying halts following strike of CCI employees:
State cotton buying through CCI has halted following CCI and State cotton federation employees joint action committee initiated indefinite strike for various demands. As a result, all centres have stopped buying until strike ends.

R. C. Bafna honoured with Girana honour award:
Jalgaon's famous jeweller R. C. Bafna jeweller has been nominated for this year Girana honour award from Girana Honour Trust Nashik for outstanding contribution in social, agricultural and business sector. Award distribution ceremony is on 05th April.

DPDC voting completed, counting on Friday:
Jalgaon District planning and development Committee voting completed yesterday with all 69 Corporators voting for major constituency along with 283 of 310 Councillors voting for minor constituency area. Farmers await cotton payments:

Jalgaon district's large number of cotton producers are awaiting State sponsored CCI payments for cotton procurement made. CCI has 188 Crores 9 Lakhs 28,000 dues payable to farmers towards 10 Lakhs 24,000 quintal cotton buying. CCI is currently paying 100% payments for procurement until 20th December 2008.

State electricity distribution Company eases electricity load shedding:
Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company has announced reduction in industrial staggering day from existing 24 hours to 16 hours with effect from today. It has also announced reduction in load shedding in urban area to 5 hours from that of existing 6 hours and 11.30 hours in rural areas to that of existing 14 hours. Company has graded distribution zones in A, B, C and D category based on distribution losses and has set load-shedding intensity on this basis.

ING Vyasa bank pings Jalgaon:
National leading private bank ING Vyasa bank is opening up its Jalgaon branch today on eve of Sankrant. Bank has set up its branch on earlier ICICI Bank location along with ATM room services.

Jalgaon DPDC election voting today:
Jalgaon district planning and development Committee is undergoing voting today for 40 seats today. Out of 40 seats, 36 have been elected unopposed and rest 4 would undergo voting. Counting is on 16th January. Voting process would complete in 4 hours due to lesser voters. Administration has set up voting at respective Tahsil headquarter for major constituency area.

NMU School of Science conducted national conference on genetically modified crops:
North Maharashtra University School of science department is conducting two-day national convention on genetically modified crops from 20th January. Convention would have participation of national and international renowned agriculturist.

Jalgaon enters in finals of under-14 cricket competition:
Jalgaon under-14 Boys team has entered into finals of ongoing State-level cricket competition at Nashik. It has defeated MCA A team by 45 runs in its last league match. It would now play versus Latur in finals on 15th January.
Jalgaon batsman Rohit Patel scored half century in first inning while Javed Tadvi scored another half century in second inning. Jagdish Zope took 10 wickets in whole match. Jalgaon scored 141 runs and bowled out MCA A team on 96 runs. It declared its second inning on 114/6 and gave target of 161 runs for victory. MCA team could score on 120/9 in designated over.

Rajmata Jijau self-dependence award ceremony:

State rural development and tourism minister honoured small saving groups in Jalgaon yesterday in honour ceremony at JDCC Bank hall for year 2007 and 2008 Rajmata Jijau Self-dependence awards. Swayamsiddha Women self-support group Bhadgaon has won second prize on divisional level for year 2007-08.
Mahalaxmi women self-support group Chinawal (Raver) won first prize followed by Arunodaya Women group getting second and Swayamsiddha Women group getting third prize for year 2007-08. Jijau Women self-support savings group, Tarsod (Jalgaon) won first, Pragati Women savings group Lasgaon (Pachora) won second and Asha Women self-support group Bhadgaon won third prize for year 2008-09.

Transporters strike continues in Jalgaon:

Jalgaon district motor owners and transportation association continues its strike as per directives of All India motor congress. A few of State associations have withdrawn their strike and as a result, strike has now entered into mixed state. Jalgaon association is affiliated to National congress and hence it has continued its strike in spite of state level call for withdrawal of strike.

Khandesh level chess competition in Pachora:
G. S. High School Pachora has organised Khandesh level open Chess competition in Pachora on 18th January. Competition aims at encouraging more youth to play chess game and would have Jalgaon's junior chess hero Pratik Patil playing with 100 players at a time. Competition would also have participation of many rated players.

Violence in Chalisgaon - 58 arrested, 97 booked:
Two groups clashed together on Ghat road area in Chalisgaon sending panic tensed situation in whole city. Police has taken charge of whole city now, has arrested 58, and registered complaints against 97 in this connection. Violence had use of sticks, swords, stones and kerosene bombs to smash. Violent turnout started around 10PM on Saturday night and continued until mid night. Police fired two rounds of pistols to control turnout. Police has marked around 200 offenders as flee in this case.

Industrial sector in pain on double taxation and Octroi taxing:

Jalgaon's industrial growth is still in political dwelling state with no clear guidelines on formation of separate industrial township as ordered long ago. Lack on infrastructural resources and Corporation continuing to levy Octroi and house taxes along with MIDC taxation are causing double taxing to industries here. Jalgaon MIDC earlier had around 1,400 small, medium and large-scale industries. This figure has trimmed down to 600 industries and many of these on pathways of lock down.
Maharashtra State government wide its GR announced formation of Jalgaon Industrial Township on 18th June 2003. Earlier Jalgaon municipal council also approved the same. State government has not clarified and announced further steps thereafter. Corporation ruling and State ruling synchronisation have been bad luck for industries here.

Raining in Jalgaon and Bhusawal:

Jalgaon city, Bhusawal, MuktaiNagar and Raver witnessed sudden raining on Friday afternoon for around 40 minutes. Many other areas had raining for 20 minutes. Climate remained cloudy since morning and turned raining in afternoon around 3PM. Raining has led to damages of standing cotton and onion crops.

Transporters strike woes fuel supplies and routine life:
Nationwide transporters strike has raised panic in region following large number of petrol pumps going down because of no fuel stocks. District's 27 petrol pumps have closed by now and many are going down by every graduating day. Jalgaon district Petrol Pump dealer Association has assured of routine fuel supplies by Saturday evening as ongoing strike of petroleum company's officers has ended and depots have restarted sending tanks. District supply office has conveyed availability of sufficient fuel stocks and adequate police protection for bringing fuel from depots.

State athletics championship in Jalgaon:
Workers welfare Mandal is conducting two days State-level athletics competition in Jalgaon from 22nd January at district stadium. This is 18th consecutive year of competition and would likely have participation of around 1,000 players. Last date of participation entry is 20th January. Championship has amateur athletics association and Mumbai district amateur athletics association active support and has 38 various types of games in various categories.

09th January:
Transporters strike intensifies - affects fuel and household LPG gas supplies:

Citizens are on woes with ongoing nationwide strike called by transporters. This strike has now taken fuel supplies along with household LPG gas supplies transportation. Many petrol pumps have turned dry and closed following no further inflow of fuel from depots. District banana producers have stopped cutting of further crop while traders have stopped auction following no means of transporting available. Jalgaon has around 40,000 to 50,000 quintals of banana still lying with producers.
Strike is likely to intensify further following parallel ongoing strike by officers in Nation's 13 out of 14 oil companies. Jalgaon district has 123 petrol pumps any many of these are getting down with every progressive day of strike. Yesterday was fourth day of strike.
There is no political support from National/ State or local levels on such high priority masses affecting issue. Political doze, vote bank based caste equations and earning oriented political approach finds no importance to Nation's utmost priorities.

Jalgaon airport - Administration prepares 14.33 Crores first acquisition compensation:
Jalgaon district administration appointed Airport land acquisition office has completed first set of land acquisition compensation. This acquisition has 14.33 Crores compensation to farmers and would now get Collectorate followed by divisional commissioner. Administration has estimated 30 Crores 55 Lakhs 84,235 Rupees in complete acquisition process.

Science Express Train to arrive in Jalgaon on Saturday, 10th January:
Department of Science, Technology, and Sarabhai Community centre jointly designed Science Express Train is arriving in Jalgaon for four days exhibition on Saturday, 10th January 2009. Train promotes Science and technology through exhibition of various scientific experiments and achievements. It would remain open from 10AM until 5PM at Platform#5.
Train has 16 AC Coaches and 13 exhibition coaches and would run 17,000Kms journey at 51 various cities in Country for 182 days. 08th January:
Banana producers take railway route for transporting:

Ongoing transporters strike nationwide has affected agricultural produces transportation. Producers have now taken railway wagon route to sell their products to northern India and rest of country. Raver, Savda and Nimbhora producers have arranged for 84 wagons of railway to send 16,000 quintals banana to Delhi. Banana rates have risen by 15 Rs. Yesterday in spite of ongoing strike.
This season banana cultivation has dropped by 10% following lower irrigation resources. Producers are now taking extra care of farms following arrival of cold in last 10 days. District had 52,000 hectares banana cultivation last year and this ration has dropped by 10% in this season.

Rural self-employment scheme exhibition in Jalgaon from Sunday:
Jalgaon district council (ZP) is conducting Nashik divisional rural women self-employment 3-days exhibition from Sunday, 10th January at Police Parade ground. This exhibition aims at encouraging women savings and small self-employment groups by exhibiting their products and services through 250 stalls. District has 6,345 savings group have cleared first two gradations and are getting 2.50 to 3.00 Lakhs capital for self-employment.

07th January:
Transporters strike paralyses agricultural produces transporting in region:

Transporters called nationwide strike has disrupted transportation system in district. There are around 3,500 trucks having halted at various points in region. This strike has led to severe troubles for banana producers having 250-300 trucks per day average. All India motor congress called strike has supports from district motor owners and transport agents association.
Association members took a protest march to Collectorate on their demands. Administration has planned to use railways and state Transport Corporation bus service and avail security and support to truck drivers taking their trucks on road during this strike.

DPDC meeting review - urges for utilisation of pending funds:
Jalgaon district planning and development committee met yesterday to approve and discuss development plans. Newly inducted district parent minister chaired meet. Meet has approved year 2009-10 annual plan of 130.69 Crores having 16 Lakhs reduction as compared to last year. Meet continued for 6 hours and was organised after 14 months.
Amongst planned funds, include Rs. 7 Crores for River Linking and assured for further funding as and when required. Plan has 86.30 Crores for general schemes for other than backwards, 22.07 Crores for SC developmental projects, 11.74 Crores for backward tribes and 10.58 Crores for other than home area backward communities.

Jalgaon under-14 boys win on Kolhapur:
Jalgaon under-14 boys' team has won first match of ongoing super league cricket competition at Nashik. It has defeated Kolhapur on basis of first inning lead of 134 runs. This included Jalgaon batsman Nikhil Patil, Rohit Patel and Pratik Gate along with Jagdish Zope and Sandeep Nikam in bowling showing exceptional performance.
Jalgaon scored 305 runs in first inning and bowled out Kolhapur on 171 runs. Jalgaon availed follow-on to Kolhapur. Kolhapur team scored 185 runs on 5 wickets in second inning. Jalgaon would now play versus Poona Club on 07th and 08th and last match versus MCA A Team on 10th and 11th January.

Transporters go on strike - likely to impact routine life:

Transporters all across India have called for nationwide strike for various demands. State unit along with district truck owners and transport agents have supported this strike. This is likely to affect milk and vegetables transporting in region. Transporters are demanding Rs. 10 per litre reduction in diesel pricing, announce bailout package for and reduce tyre rates by at least 35% and many such demands.

JDCC Bank to avail Rs. 6 Crores loan to Chopda sugar factory:
Jalgaon district central co-operative bank board has approved Rs. 6 Crores loan to Chopda sugar factory for buying sugarcanes. Board also approved report of NABARD audit and other topics on its agenda.

District democracy day:
Jalgaon district administration has received 180 complaints on January democracy day. This included revenue department - 34 complaints, ZP - 23, MSEDC - 1, Police - 10, land records - 7, PWD - 1, Councils - 5, Irrigation department - 5 and 23 other. It has resolved 2 and rest have been diverted to respective department for further hearing.

NMU ties up with three foreign universities:

North Maharashtra University Jalgaon has associated with three foreign universities to enhance educational base for its students. This includes Alabama University, Satis University Mexico and Institute of Technology Korea having signed up memorandum of understanding for education and research. Alabama University Professors team is arriving in Jalgaon on 20th January for joint projects in life science department.

State forestry department to rejuvenate Pal forestry:
State forestry department Jalgaon unit has initiated plans for setting up medical tourism based centre in Pal (Raver) estimated at cost of Rs. 26 Lakhs. Pal is amongst region's only hill stations and has lush green and pleasing natural resources. No updates in recent years have eased its tourism impact.
Proposed facilities include cultivation of medicinal benefiting herbs and plants, formulate special Ayurvedic and herbal products from Satpuda forestry, rest house in Pal for night stays, and develop A Hut in Pal as tourism attraction. It is also constructing Kolhapur-type dam on Suki River for attracting forestry animals.

Iqra School wins inter-school cricket competition:
Iqra Shahin School Jalgaon has won under-16 challenge trophy inter-school cricket competition by defeating Sane Guruji School Amalner team. Iqra player Asim Shaikh won Man of the Match Awards for exceptional performance.
Iqra bated first and scored 227 runs in designated 40 over. This included Shamin and Alamgir scoring 45 runs along with Asim scoring 40 and Sadik scoring 25 runs. In reply, Sane Guruji School was bowled out in 120 runs in 33.1 over. Rohit scored 39 and Mahesh scored 28 valuable runs in this score.

Cottonomics in full pace:

State Cotton buying this season has received never before fabulous response. It has received 7.66 Lakhs quintal of cotton at 33 centres throughout region in this season. Private buyers are lagging behind following lower rates availed. CCI and Nafed are offering 2,800 per quintal rate while private buyers started buying at 3,200 and are currently offering 2,600 per quintal. CCI has paid 100.30 Crores towards this buying until now and still owes 115.36 Crores by now.

District administration plans of 475 Lakhs expenditure for summer water woes:
Jalgaon district council rural water supplies department has submitted a proposal to district Administration on likely water shortages in 495 villages in district. It has plans of availing 504 projects under Maharashtra rural employment guarantee and 39 other ways amounting to 475 Lakhs. Water surveys department has estimated 495 villages likely to face water woes in upcoming summer.

Nashik division's 5 player selected in State table tennis team:

Jalgano district's Shelgaon barrage on Tapi River near Asoda village has received 30 Crores fund from State government. This is medium project having set up in between Hatnur and mini Tapi project in Amalner. It would benefit around 10,000 hectares land in nearby zone and also ease water woes of Asoda and nearby rural areas.

APMC elections - 42 candidates in fray in Jalgaon:
Jalgaon agricultural produces marketing committee election has final list of 42 candidates for the election. There are 18 seats in this election and has existing ruling Shetkari Panel (symbol: Horse) along with Shekari vikas Panel (Symbol: Aeroplane). Both panels have straight fights at most of seats.
Jamner APMC now has 45 candidates for 18 seats. Election voting is on 18th January. Administration received 277 nominations, found 241 valid and in all 196 withdrawn. Bhusawal APMC now has 85 candidates for 17 seats.

District dispute free award distribution on 05th January:
Jalgaon district's 56 villages and cities have been nominated for dispute free village award for year 2007. District parent minister would honour these village heads in ceremony on 05th January 2009 in Jalgaon. Administration has also called for a review meet of dispute free district committee. It aims at encouraging villages in settling disputes on local and mutual levels and reduces existing number of cases and proceedings with Police. Administration has formed dispute settlement committees on village level that includes Panchayat members, concerned police officers along with Gramsevak.

Challenge trophy cricket competition:
St. Teresa, Iqra, Sane Guruji, Nutan Secondary and Biyani High School Bhusawal have entered to semi finals of ongoing inter-school Challenge trophy cricket competition. St. Teresa defeated Zambre school by 3 wickets while Iqra defeated St. Joseph High School. In afternoon session, Sane Guruji School defeated Nashirabad School by 4 wickets and Biyani High school defeated G. S. High School.
Today Iqra would play against Biyani High School while St. Teresa would play against Sane Guruji Amalner in Semi Finals.

HSC Exams from 26th February, SSC from 5th March:

Maharashtra state board for secondary and higher secondary education has announced schedule for SSC and HSC exams for year 2009. HSC written test begins from 26th February and continues until 21st March while SSC exam begins on 05th March and continues until 23rd March.
HSC practical, oral and grade exams begin from 06th February and continues until 24th February. SSC practical and oral exam is from 12th until 28th February. MCVC exam would be based on new syllabus and old syllabus students would get last chance to appear.

Bal Gandharva musical festivity begins today in Jalgaon:
Chandorkar memorial trust conducted annual Bal-Gandharva musical festivity is beginning from today at Bal-Gandharva open theatre. The three days festivity would complete seven years in this event and has participation of national and international fame musicians and field personalities.
Extravaganza has 8 sessions beginning every evening by 6.30PM. First session begins at 6.45PM with Delhi based Bholanath Mishra performing classical and Thumri singing accompanied by Pt. Bharatbhushan Goswami (Delhi) on Sarangi and Jayant Naik (Jalgaon) on Tabla play. Second session has Pt. Nayan Ghosh performing Satar play.
Second session has Pt. Shubha Mudgal (Delhi) with classical singing accompanied by Pt. Anish Pradhan (Mumbai) on Tabla and Sudhir Naik on Samvadini. Second session has Kolkata based Rimpa Shiv performing her classical Tabla play. This follows Pt. Rajendra Gangani presenting Katthak dance accompanied by Pt. Vijay Ghate (Pune) on Tabla and Vijay Parihar (Delhi) on singing and co-ordination along with Ustad Kamal Ahmed (Delhi) on Sarangi and Mohit Gangani (Delhi) on Pakhwaj.
Day-3 of festivity begins with drama play singing by Natya Sangit Rajani Mumbai artists Pt. Nilakshi Pendharkar and Pt. Suresh Bapat accompanied by Dhananjay Puranik (Mumbai) on Tabla, Makrand Kundale(Mumbai) on co-ordination and Rajendra Bhave (Mumbai) on Violin. Second session has flute play by Pt. Rakesh Chorasiya (Mumbai) with Pt. Vijay Ghate(Pune) supporting on Tabla. Festivity ends with Pt. Mukul Shivputra supported by Rohit Mujumdar (Pune) and Suresh Fadtare (Pune).

Madhukar tops in district in sugarcane processing:
Jalgaon district's Madhukar co-operative sugar factory is on top of productivity chart in whole Khandesh this year in spite of negative circumstances and lower sugarcane availability. It has produced 88,300 bags of sugar by processing 90,000 metric tons of sugarcane in 46 days as on 31st December. Lower labour availability, lesser sugarcane produces per hectare are on top of issues list this season. Factory is processing 2,600 to 2,800 metric tons sugarcane per day currently.
Chopda sugar factory is second in list with 31,410 metric tons sugarcane processing and production of 24,250 sugar bags in 37 days as of 31st December.

Jalgaon - MuktaiNagar road route diverted:
Highway authorities have created a temporary change of route for Bhusawal to MuktaiNagar following proposed railway gate work on Fekri. This works begin today morning at 6AM and continues until 03rd January, 6PM. altered route has MuktaiNagar - Bodwad - Salsinghi, Kurha Panache, Sunasgaon and back againto Nashirabad connecting to highway. Only two and three wheelers could move on current route with altered railway gate crossing on Fekri Village.

Challenge trophy cricket competition - Bhusawal and Nashirabad in quarterfinals:
Zambre School Jalgaon, St. Joseph High school, New English School Nashirabad and Biyani High School Bhusawal have qualified for quarterfinals in ongoing inter-school challenge trophy cricket competition in Jalgaon. Yesterday played matches had Jeet Pawar, Jagdish Zope, Rahul Mali and Suraj Mayti winning Man of the Match awards for respective winning teams.
Today's competitions are Iqra Vs St. Joseph, St. Teresa Vs Zambre in morning session and Sane Guruji School Amalner Vs New English School Nashirabad along with G. S. High School Amalner Vs Biyani High school Bhusawal.

District's 1.50 Lakhs farmer to get benefit of State Farm debt waiver scheme:
Jalgaon district's around 1.50 Lakhs regularly loan-paying farmers would be benefited from State government's newly announced debt waiver scheme. These farmers were excluded from Central government farm debt waiver scheme following non-eligibility. Jalgaon district's apex co-operative bank JDCC Bank would receive 225 Crores fund to write off this debt.
JDCC Bank is collecting data of farmers and farm producers falling under newly announced debt waiver criteria. This includes crop loans, agricultural supplementary business, poultry, and fishery along with any outstanding due before 1997. District has 17,561 farmers having debt dues before 1997 amounting to 24.76 Crores, 8,056 farmers having irrigation, poultry, milk produces and fishery having 15.50 Crores due. District also has 514 farmers having taken loans for irrigation, farm equipments and tractors amounting to 88.14 Lakhs and 181,598 regularly loan paying farmers having crop loans up to Rs. 20,000 amounting to 181.56 Crores.
Bank has earlier received central government Debt Waiver scheme funds benefiting around 68,000 farmers totalling to 88.12 Crores out of total 122.60 Crores.

Franking department announces valuations - continues last year rates:
State chief controller of revenues has announced rates and valuations for open land and buildings for year 2009. It has continued last year rates as it is for this year. Earlier it did extended market valuations to 10% in urban areas and 5% in rural areas. All property registrations have to pay registration and franking duty as base slab from this valuation. Pachora Municipal Council avails Rs. 25,000 accident insurance to citizens:
Pachora municipal Council has taken annual public accident insurance cover for whole Pachora city with effect from today. This would benefit all citizens of Pachora having listed in electoral roll as of 31st December 2008 and up to 70 years of age.

Inter-school Kho-Kho competition begins from 02nd January:
District sports council organised inter-school Kho-Kho competition is beginning from 02nd until 04th January 2009 at district stadium. Competition has 27 boys and 19 girls' team participation. Every participating school would receive memento and certificates, winning team would get 1,500 Cash Prize, trophy, runner up has Rs. 1,000 Cash prize, and trophy, third team has Rs. 750 and trophy while fourth runner would get Rs. 500 and trophy. Competition also has best player awards.
