Established in 404 Acres sprawling campus on banks of Girana River, North Maharashtra University was setup on 15th August 1990 with purview of enhancing educational opportunities in Khandesh region comprising of Jalgaon, Dhule and Nandurbar districts. University fondly named as NMU has University of Pune as its parent institution and is NAAC accreditated Institution with ample infrastructural facilities and enhancing participation in Academics in region. University is celebrating Silver Jubilee year in this Academic year 2014-15.
University started with fewer Courses and lower student strength has today over 15,000 students annually passing out from various Courses in Arts, Fine Arts, Commerce, Management, Science, Education, Engineering/ Technology, Pharmacy and Law faculty. University has well equipped in-campus Schools offering various Courses on Diploma/ UG/ PG and Doctorate levels.
University campus comprises of Khandesh Historic Museum, Bank and ATM facilities, Guest House, Health Care, Hostel, Sports, Canteen and Post Office along with various Departmental buildings and Main Building controlling entire administration and Examination processes. University in joint association with Social forestry department, local industries, Rural development and Water conservation Department has announced setting up of Bio-diversity Park in 100hectare area in University Campus. Proposed Park will include bio-diversity museum, butterfly park, green house, Ornamental garden, Orchidarium, Farnarium, visitor galleries, cafeteria, nature trail and bunding and check dams.
NMU has signed Memorandum with various International and Indian Universities and Institutions for Student Exchange, Research Activities and enhanced training prospectives. It has joint-Degree Academic program in association with Cayuga Community College, New York, dedicated Adult and Continuing Education and Extension Services wing, Dr. Ambedkar Competition Examination Coaching Center and proposed Community College and Tribal Academy Center at Nandurbar satelite study center.
