Jalgaon
District is located in the north-west region of the state of Maharashtra. It
is bounded by Satpuda mountain ranges in the north, Ajanta mountain ranges in
the south, Dhule District in the west and Buldhana District in the east. Jalgaon
is rich in volcanic soil which is well suited for cotton production. It is a
major business center for Tea, Gold, Pulse mills, Cotton and Agro products.
Marathi, Ahirani, Hindi, and English are the languages spoken. Jalgaon District
receives an average rainfall of about 750 mm and the temperature varies from
10 degree celsius to 48 degree celsius in peak summer.
With an area of about 11,700 sq km, Jalgaon District has a population of about
4 million. It is also bounded by religious temples and cultural establishments.
Padmalaya, Manudevi and Patnadevi are some of the religious places situated
in Jalgaon District. The major tourist attractions are Pal hill station at Raver,
Patnadevi temple, at the confluence of Tapi and Purna rivers, hot water springs
at Unapdev in Chopda Taluka.
The World famous Heritage site Ajanta Caves is far near to Jalgaon making it
as one of major International Tourism hub for Tourist to reach Ajanta
and Ellora caves. The region is also popular for its competitive edge business
policies with Tea, Gold, Pulses, Mats being major Trade commodities. The District
has excellent Rail and Road connectivity and is a central destination to reach
out major places in India within 8-10 hours.

City
& District Administration: |
Jalgaon Municipal Council was established on 24th November
1864. On 08th March 1864 Council Municipal Chief Officer was appointed
and on 22nd July 1885, City's first election was conducted in which 6
members were elected. Lte shri Abaji Ragho Mahlas was City's first public
elected Council President on 23rd March 1909. Mrs Kamalabai Ballal Joshi
was city's first Lady public elected President. Dr. K D Patil is city's
last Publicly elected President as SC cleared Corporation formation on
14th February 2003. The State Government in its notification has announced
formation of Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation (JCMC)with
effect from 21st March 2003.
Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation has effected Goods entry
based Cess tax in Jalgaon City with effect from 01st November 2008. This
tax has mandatory trader and goods importer registration with Corporation
and monthly return filling.
The Maharashtra State Government has implied "Right
to Information Act" in the State. The rule states appointing of CIO
(Chief Information Officer) in every Government Office to explain various
queries related to the Department. So if you find any trouble/ query in

Jalgaon Market
is mainly known for Gold, Pulses, Wholesale Tea, Agrilculture, Grains Trading.
'Banana' is Jalgaon's main crop with 'cotton' having second priority. Around
60% of district money circulation depends on agriculture income and therefore
factors like flooding, low-rainfall etc affects the city economy a lot.
Jalgaon also produces excellent quality milk and therefore many national

Ground, Stadium, Badminton Court, Table Tennis Court all are available in
Jalgaon. Many state level as well as national level sporting events are
also conducted on yearly basis. Many colleges and NMU also conducts some
yearly sporting events.
Jalgaon city has beautifully designed Jalgaon district Sports Complex named 'Chhatrapati Shivaji Complex' located in heart of city. This stadium is well equipped with all facilities for indoor and outdoor games and spectators sitting capacity of around 10,000 viewers.

halls and reception halls. Many top quality hotels also provide marriage functions arrangments and
control.
Most important factor for booking up these halls and hotels is pre-planning.
You need to book all these halls before 2months of booking date. Halls are
available in range as per requirements. Hotels can be booked on per day basis depending
on requirement number of rooms and other facilities. Most of the communities
have their own halls and they offer at very low cost to their caste people.
Various good quality food-makers/ Maharaj are also available in Jalgaon
on reasonable rates. "Indore" is also a near place for Jalgaon,
